There's something about a near death experience that makes you appreciate some of life's simple pleasures: fresh air, cold water, a granola bar, and yes, even beer.
We finally began some real adventure today in the way of Jet boats (see video), and River boarding. We figured neither would really measure up to the thrill of a death defying bungee jump, but as you can see, both were a riot, and I guarantee you that none of us thought the river boarding would be as thrilling and challenging as it was. If not for the 6 guides on thr trip, we would have lost some people. Seriously, there we a couple of girls on the trip totally crying and in shock because they were so scared of drowning. There's nothing like a whirlpool in the middle of a class 3/4 rapid to suck you under, followed by an Eddy that grabs you and won't let you go, to humble you. I personally was spent after an hour and a half in the 55 degree water. Our calves are screaming right now from doing so much kicking with the fins on.
Enjoy these photos and such as we won't have connectivity for 4 days as tomorrow we embark on the Milford Trek, the most scenic tramp in all of New Zealand. Hope you enjoy following along as much as we enjoy doing and posting!! see you in a few days.....
